Carla García-Benítez has over thirty-five years of experience in the civil litigation arena. She has litigated complex cases in an array of topics over those years. While she continues to participate in some fashion on many other matters, Carla concentrates most of her litigation practice at present in distribution and franchising law, intellectual property, and tax litigation.
Among other highlights of her career, Carla has successfully challenged trademark infringers, by both non-judicial and judicial means, usually achieving the clients’ goals without the need of a costly trial. has represented both insurance companies in complex reinsurance disputes, as well as insurers and insured in policy coverage issues. She has also been involved in complex copyright disputes, involving claims of unlawful copying of software and architectural works. Moreover, Carla has had over twenty years of experience in working with our Corporate Tax members in defending, at both the administrative and judicial level, tax deficiencies assessed by various taxing authorities.
Her knowledge in the intellectual property area has also led her to handle non-litigation matters. Carla actively supervises the process of obtaining both local and federal trademark registrations, as well as regularly assisting in business transactions involving the licensing or assignment of intellectual property assets.
